Kanadukathan is a small village in the famous Chettinad district hailed as atravel destination by Conde Nast.
Chettinad Mansion a quaint heritage or boutique hotel at a quaint little village called Kanadukathan. A small well-planned village known for its rich heritage. It falls on the Trichy-Rameshwaram Highway (NH 210) and is about 2 hours drive from Trichy or Madurai Airport.
It is just 200 Meters away from its more prominent neighbour known as Chettinad Palace.
Chettinadu Mansion was constructed by S.A.Rm.Ramaswamy Chettiar of the renowned S.A.Family. The construction began in 1902 and it took ten years for completion. The mansion is huge, extending over 40,000 square feet and the rooms are embellished with the lavish use of Burmese Teak Wood, Italian Marble and English Steel.
Close by is Karaikudi, at the heart of Chettinad with its luxury spa hotel Visalam. For everyone who thought Chettinad was all about the spicy mutton and chicken chettinad, a visit to this region will be an eye opener.
Last year Conde Nast Traveller called this region one of the best travel spots in the country. Karaikudi, is the capital and one among the 74 villages of Chettinad in Shivaganga district in Tamil Nadu. Home to the Nattukottai Chettiars, a prosperous banking and business community, the region has acquired fame in South East Asia for its culinary delicacies
