If there was an award for gaining maximum popularity through negative publicity, Sherlyn Chopra would sure be a strong contender for the title.
The controversial model-turned-actor-tuned-singer is in news again. And it’s pointless saying, it’s for a wrong reason yet again. It’s the latest Sherlyn video that the Censor Board has found too hot to handle. So much so that the Censor Board has made as many as 18 cuts in the video.
In a candid chat with LT, Sherlyn tells us all about her new music album, the controversies surrounding it and much more.
After all those cuts, Sherlyn feels “the video is still hot, but I would have been happier if it had passed without any cuts. The Censor Board (members) alone can answer as to what compelled them to make so many cuts.”
But she takes this move of the Censor Board with a pinch of salt. “I think now my video can be aired on Disney and Pogo channels as well,” grins Sherlyn.
Ask her how her music album is different from other pop albums and pat comes the reply, “My music album boasts of effortless sexuality and excellence.” Well, we don't know about excellence, but after seeing the Censor Board's move, sexuality is what we are sure of!
Sherlyn's album is a tribute to Hema Malini. “Portrayals change with the change in era,” defends Sherlyn when asked that Hema Malini has never portrayed herself like the way she has in her music video.
Recently Koena Mitra, after having her nose job done commented that plastic surgery is a very big gamble. So what’s her take on that given the number of plastic surgeries she’s undergone herself? “Well, I will say the same, the day I start looking like Michael Jackson,” retorts Sherlyn. Ask her whether she is a better actor or singer, and she sums up by saying, “I'm a better seductress.”
Sherlyn has said many a times that she has got killer eyes. So is that her USP, we ask her? “Of course,” comes a quick reply, adding, “My eyes say it all. Even the things which should be unsaid.”
Sherlyn has been known for her forthright comments. Is that the reason why she’s in the midst of so many controversies? “May be. They say honesty is not a virtue. But I am yet to understand why?” says Sherlyn, who feels controversies help in gaining unprecedented popularity.
