BANGALORE: The Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has set up a hotline to provide information on the Sakrama scheme that facilitates regularisation of unauthorised construction in the city.

The hotline number is 3244 0101.

According to a press release, this line will function from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on all working days (from Monday to Saturday) starting from November 20.

BANGALORE: The Department of Science and Technology (DST) is looking at ensuring enrolment of at least 250 PhD students in nanosciences over the next five years. They will be registered in leading central and state universities and specialized research institutes, sources told TOI.

While it is not clear how many will graduate in a year, 50 pass-outs a year are needed to ensure India has at least 250 nano scholars by 2012. read more »

Bangalore, Dec. 31: A female serial killer who murdered six women with an unusual poison often linked to the LTTE was arrested here last night trying to sell the victims’ jewellery.

Mallika, 43, whose real name is K.D. Kempamma, took her victims to dharamshalas, forced the quick-killing cyanide powder into their mouth and robbed them, officers said. The last five murders were between October 10 and December 18 this year.
