Actress Sharanya Bhagyaraj attempts suicide

Chennai, Jan 23: Sharanya Bhagyaraj, a budding actress and daughter of actor-director K Bhagyaraj, attempted to commit suicide on Tuesday night, allegedly by consuming poison.

According to police, she has been admitted to a private hospital and is under observation.

Sharanya, whose mother Poornima was a top heroine in south Indian movies, had made her debut in a Tamil movie 'Parijatam', opposite Prithviraj, a top Malayalam actor.

A failed love affair is believed to be the reason behind her taking the step.
