After Katrina Kaif faints due to heat during an outdoor shoot in Egypt recently, the filmmakers change the entire schedule to suit her needs
Actors and actresses fainting on the sets is a common phenomenon. However, what’s uncommon is to see a filmmaker change the entire schedule of a shoot to ensure that the ‘incident’ doesn’t recur.
This is what happened recently during the shoot of Vipul Shah’s forthcoming film Singh Is Kinng starring Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif.
The lead pair was in Egypt to shoot the peppy romantic song Jee Karda. Anees Bazmee, the director, wanted to showcase some of the best locales of Egypt in this song and naturally they had to plan outdoor shoots for it. However, all did not go as per plan. Since they were shooting in the peak summer months, the temperature was a
burning 51 degree celsius.
Anees was in for a big shock on the first day of shooting itself. The unit was shooting near the pyramids at 9 am but the heat was so bad that the leading lady Katrina Kaif and couple of dancers fainted on the sets and shooting had to be cancelled for that day.
The director immediately realised that it would be impossible to shoot during the daytime. So after a lot of deliberation, Anees and producer Vipul Shah took a call that the shooting will only take place in the wee hours of the morning and late evenings.
The cast and crew started reporting on the sets early by 4am and then in the evening after sunset.
